Our community comprises of around 464,692 people, or 26.8% of South Australia’s overall population.
Covering the growing population of the central Adelaide metropolitan region, we are the largest and most densely populated local health network, with around 1,730 people per square kilometre.
We also have an extremely diverse community in terms of their personal circumstance.
A snapshot of our consumers can be seen here.
Many CALHN consumers also come from outside our geographical boundaries, such as people from rural, remote, interstate and overseas locations.
Central Adelaide’s community also includes groups of people who share a common interest (such as cultural, social, political, health, and economic interests) but who do not necessarily share a particular geographic association.
We know that different types of communities are likely to have different approaches to participation, and different needs within the health system.
Community connector meetings bring together community organisations that represent the diverse communities that CALHN serves.

Central Adelaide LHN acknowledges the Kaurna people as the traditional owners of the lands on which its sites are located. We respect their spiritual relationship with their country and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to living Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today.
