Consumer partnering

Central to our culture is our commitment to collaborate with our consumers and community.

We believe people have a right to participate in their own health care, contribute to the design of services, and be part of the evaluation of services because it leads to better experiences and outcomes for the community.

Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) has a team of dedicated consumer partners embedded at all levels of the organisation who help shape our services by contributing to the design, delivery and evaluation process.

Become a consumer partner today

Do you have lived experience of CALHN’s services and want to be part of shaping the future?

CALHN is actively seeking consumers from a range of backgrounds. Opportunities exist for all consumers with lived experience of our service in the last two years as a patient, family member or carer to become one of our Consumer Representatives or Consumer Advocates.

Consumer Representatives are selected to sit on decision-making committees across CALHN, often the safety and quality committees within each program.

Consumer Advocates work with clinicians and consumers on the wards of our hospitals, or at the point of care at one of our many sites. They conduct observations and interviews with patients.

You will be part of a team of like-minded individuals contributing to improving our services for all South Australians.

We actively encourage consumers with cultural, language or support needs to apply.

Consumers are reimbursed for their time, and are offered ongoing training, support and assistance.

Expressions of Interest are now open for Consumer Representatives and Consumer Advocates for our Acute and Urgent Care (AUC) team.

Central Adelaide LHN acknowledges the Kaurna people as the traditional owners of the lands on which its sites are located. We respect their spiritual relationship with their country and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to living Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today.
