Exceptional Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) nurses have been celebrated for their significant contribution to healthcare in South Australia at the 2024 Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards.
Three individuals and one team were among 14 winners recognised at the event to showcase the patient-focused care and quality improvement programs delivered by nurses and midwives across the state.
Congratulations to our CALHN winners:
- Marrisha Singh, Registered Nurse, Thoracics Outpatients Department, Royal Adelaide Hospital – Excellence in Practice – Early Career Nurse/Midwife category.
- Mary Young, Nurse Practitioner, Royal Adelaide Hospital (joint winner with Michael Fitzgerald: Southern Adelaide Local Health Network) Excellence in Practice – Registered Nurse category.
- Nicole Kelly, Nursing Director, Trauma Service, Royal Adelaide Hospital and Co-Chair SA Trauma System Excellence in Leadership and Governance.
- Let’s BRUNCH 24hrs a day – CALHN Surgery Programs (joint winner with Early Pregnancy Unit, Northern Adelaide Local Health Network) Excellence in Practice – Team.

Premier’s Nursing and Midwifery Scholarships
Three CALHN nurses were also awarded Premier’s Nursing and Midwifery Scholarships. These are offered annually to enable nurses and midwives to explore best practice and translate evidence into sustainable outcomes within the SA health system.
