Caring for patients through the ups and downs of inflammatory disease

Everything seems to move fast in a digital world – but for rheumatologist Dr Sam Whittle, having the opportunity to support patients over a long time frame is one of the things he loves most about his job.

Sam is Senior Consultant Rheumatologist at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (TQEH), and is our guest in this episode of the Our People podcast.

Based at TQEH for almost 20 years, Sam works in all areas of rheumatology but is mainly focused on inflammatory arthritis, and other conditions involving persistent pain and fatigue in muscles and joints. He’s also an active researcher, aiming to improve integration of new evidence into health practice to improve patient care.

Rheumatology is the specialist area of medicine that deals with inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis and fibromyalgia.
