Aboriginal Community Newsletter

The relationships we have with the Aboriginal Community are central to the healing and care of  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.

Within CALHN we have a number of initiatives and programs that help connect CALHN staff to Aboriginal patients, families, health services and GP’s in the community to meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and families.

We have a long way to go and are developing better communications between CALHN staff, Aboriginal patients, families and community health services to help understand and navigate our hospitals and health services.

We are also advising our CALHN staff on how things work in the community so that we can work together to respond to the care needs of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and families. Only by working closely with Aboriginal consumers, communities and stakeholders will we have the opportunity to learn from each other, and improve outcomes for patients.

The Aboriginal Community Newsletter is our regular newsletter to share news and information with Aboriginal patients, families and communities about CALHN hospital and health services.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, escorts, families, Aboriginal community health services and organisations are invited to subscribe to the Aboriginal Community Newsletter by filing out the below form.

For further information please contact the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health And Wellbeing Hub on (08) 7074 5460.

We acknowledge and pay respect to the First Nations Kaurna people upon whose ancestral land the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) provides services.

We acknowledge the relationship and deep feelings of attachment between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Country, and we acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of the many lands from which our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers travel to receive services.
