RAHsearch 2021

RAHsearch 2021 shone a light on the fundamental link between research and better health outcomes for our community.

It focused on our latest research, medical advancements and treatments in heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Day 1 – What’s new in heart disease

Learn more from South Australia’s Chief Scientist, Professor Caroline McMillen about the important role of the RAH in Adelaide’s $4B Biomed City, followed by Dr Varun Malik presenting on autonomic nervous system and atrial fibrillation.

Emergency Consultant, Dr Cynthia Papendick speaks about the latest research being done to diagnose heart attacks in the emergency department, concluding with A/Prof Peter Psaltis and his work finding new ways to improve patient outcomes in Coronary Artery Disease.

The closing session features a Q&A panel discussion with all speakers.

Day 2 – What’s new in diabetes

Day 2 of RAHsearch 2021 features South Australia’s leading researchers discussing cutting-edge diabetes innovations.

Professor Robert Fitridge presents an engaging session on what’s new in diabetes-related foot disease, followed by Professor Christopher Rayner speaking on novel diabetic therapies.

Professor Toby Coates finishes with his game changing pancreatic islet transplantation research, before concluding with a thought-provoking Q&A panel session.

Emergency Consultant, Dr Cynthia Papendick speaks about the latest research being done to diagnose heart attacks in the emergency department, concluding with A/Prof Peter Psaltis and his work finding new ways to improve patient outcomes in Coronary Artery Disease.

Day 3 – What’s new in cancer

Ground-breaking cancer research featured in Day 3 of RAHsearch21.

Dr Cindy Lee spoke about the progress in the area of immunotherapy in multiple myeloma, Dr Melissa Bochner discussed what’s new in the breast cancer research undertaken at the RAH before Associate Professor Peter Gorayski provided an exciting update on the advances being made in machine learning in radiotherapy at CALHN.

After a Q&A session featuring the day’s speakers, CALHN CEO Lesley Dwyer announced the 2022 CEO Clinical Rapid Implementation Project Scheme (CRIPS) grant recipients.

Central Adelaide LHN acknowledges the Kaurna people as the traditional owners of the lands on which its sites are located. We respect their spiritual relationship with their country and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to living Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today.
