RAHsearch 2022

RAHsearch 2022 shone a light on the fundamental link between research and better health outcomes for our community.

It focused on research into chronic myeloid leukaemia, diabetes and inflammatory bowel disease.

Sessions

Each session went for 60 minutes and included a panel discussion.

Tailoring the treatment of Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia patients

We heard from haematologist Dr Shanmuganathan and her patient Lisa McNeil as they discusses how research identifying the factors in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia can predict how patients will respond to therapy and how it can help to quickly determine the best treatment option for CML as soon as possible.

New hope for those living with Type 1 Diabetes

Game-changing research at the Royal Adelaide Hospital has the potential to be the next step in finding a cure for type 1 diabetes.

We heard from Professor Toby Coates AO and his patient Alec Tibbitts about the world-first human trial of insulin-producing islet cells, which is offering new hope for those living with diabetes.

Super poo – how can faecal transplants and diet treat bowel disease?

In this session we heard from Associate Professor Robert Bryant and patients Rachel Fenwick and Nathan Wegner about how research into diet modifications and faecal microbial transplantation (FMT) is having a positive impact for those with inflammatory bowel disease.

Central Adelaide LHN acknowledges the Kaurna people as the traditional owners of the lands on which its sites are located. We respect their spiritual relationship with their country and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to living Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today.
